Registration for FNC Candidates to Open Soon

The nomination process for the upcoming Federal National Council (FNC) elections is set to kick off later this month, starting from August 15 to August 18. According to the state news agency Wam, the National Elections Committee will establish nine registration centers across the UAE to enable potential candidates to officially declare their candidacy. The FNC election is scheduled to take place on October 7.

To be eligible for candidacy, aspiring council members must meet specific criteria. Candidates must be Emirati citizens and permanent residents of the emirate they wish to represent. Additionally, they should be at least 25 years old at the time of nomination. Nominees must also possess a good reputation and must not have any criminal convictions, except in cases where their reputation has been legally restored.

Individuals listed in the electoral entities' lists can submit their nomination requests through the link available on the committee's website, www.uaenec.ae. Alternatively, registration can be completed using the National Election Committee – uaenec app, which is accessible on both Apple Store and Google Play. The nomination process will begin at 8 am on August 15 and conclude at 4 pm on August 18. During this period, registration centers will accept nomination requests.

Applicants should be aware that there is a registration fee of Dh3,000 associated with the process. Additionally, those who are currently employed in the public or private sector, military personnel, or existing FNC members seeking re-election must present a certificate indicating approved leave from work starting from September 4, 2023, until October 13, 2023.
